What is Internal Family Systems (IFS) — and why it feels so kind
The inner critic, the people-pleaser, the part that shuts down: IFS helps you understand them instead of fighting them.
IFS starts from a simple idea: the mind is naturally made of many parts. Some protect us by controlling, criticizing or numbing. Others carry old pain.
No bad parts
Even the parts that cause trouble are trying to help. When we approach them with curiosity instead of shame, they often relax — and the anxiety, anger or avoidance they drive begins to soften.
Your core Self
Beneath the parts is what IFS calls Self: calm, curious, compassionate. Therapy helps you lead from that place, building a secure attachment within yourself.

Reading is a start. Therapy gives you a safe space to actually change the pattern.
